Toms of fun!At the beginning it was very hard to understand the rules, so it remained forgotten for three months before we decided to give it a try...so I barely read the rules and created my own ones, which I summarize here:- I added the possibility to use the scorpions, the golden one and the black. They are required to defeat the king mummy. You can get one if the dice face has the black triangle. You can steal it from another player. If you get to the top and you don't have the scorpion you can not defeat the King mummy.- The black triangle also gives you other option (only one at a time), to steal a crystal from other player. You need the right crystal to be able to climb the pyramid.- Once you have a scorpion, you can use it in your adventure's head until other player steals it from you.- A lucky player can get the two scorpions.- If you have a scorpion and a mummy reaches your level, don't worry you're protected so you don't have to return to ground level.- Only 4 mummies can abandon the game, once this happens remaining group of mummies keeps going up or down according to the dice results.- Before climbing the pyramid, all players must do two rounds, so chances are higher to get the colored crystals.- If you make a mistake guessing the color of a crystal you lose a turn.- To defeat the Mummy King you must reach the top, you must have a scorpion, and when rolling the dice the face of a mummy must be the result.- The dice's face showing a pyramid gives the players the opportunity to rotate the pyramid at will at any level. After these changes the game was great! I usually play at least once a day with my 5yr old son and he really enjoys it!These new Lego games are really cool & a ton of fun! Not only are they actual games, but kids (or adults) can play with the Legos as toys as well when the game ends. The goal of the Lego Ramses Pyramid Game is to dethrone the Mummy King from atop a Lego pyramid. It's designed for 2 to 4 players (or teams). Each player must first work their way clockwise around the pyramid collecting "jewels" and/or memorizing jewel colors in Secret Temples. You then proceed up the levels of the pyramid all while avoiding descending mummies. The first to successfully defeat the Mummy King wins. Lego also recommends several rule changes you can make to the game to add some variety. They encourage using your own imagination in creating rules or games based upon the game pieces. The game comes with a base plate, Lego Dice, Lego pyramid, Lego players, mummies, jewels, "tents", and a few other Lego pieces including a couple scorpions. It also stores nicely in the box.If you're a Lego lover (and who isn't!), you'll likely really enjoy the new Lego games. The Ramses Pyramid game is a nice start. Let the adventure begin! Enjoy!Note: This game is available in Target stores for $29.99.Before reading this, chose which title to go with the article. That's basically how the game goes. Roll, don't roll, rotate then move, or move and rotate a level. We played with one exception, making it you cannot move up to the same level AND side as a mummy. I think we would still be playing if we had to clear all the mummies from all the levels (which is how I read the rules as written). I get you're supposed to make up your own rules, but that doesn't excuse the originals from being impossible- at one point we had mummies at every level, meaning you could not have gotten on or moved up the pyramid without the "same side" addendum until 3s were rolled out and all the mummies were off the 1st level! Now, Memory, with cards, has always been one of my favorite games. LEGO is still my favorite toy, and I have a whole room full. I've always wanted to try one of the LEGO series games even if just to add the little mini-mini figs to my collection. But this- this is a nightmare of rotating colors and moving pieces! If it wasn't hard enough to remember 6 colors which always go back in a different spot, we were constantly turning the board to see what was on the other side of the pyramid! My wife went 6 or 7 turns looking for the purple gem, and by the 5th had forgotten where she'd even looked.Personally I just gave up trying to remember, and I play a memory game on the computer where the cards shift every time you flip- that's fun, this isn't. And that's not the half of it- there are too many choices to be made on every turn.Another great game for making up rules is Fluxx, but I sincerely believe that the base game needs to work and be fun as packaged, not lean on the crutch of "you can fix it with whatever rules you want". I can't believe this game won an award. If I were to play again I think I'd make a few rules:-For each pip you get a guess to move s.t. if you roll a 3 and guess wrong you have two moves left to try and guess again.-You can optionally put the secret crystals back where you found them. This can help your opponents, but it makes moving the orange crystal somewhere new, when everyone has gotten used to it being by the yellow tent, a strategic decision.-You can optionally run around the pyramid any time you are starting from the entrance (to give the option of collecting more crystals)I don't know about the mummy on the same side vs. same level, it still seems too difficult to have the pyramid levels all blocked causing both players to just roll 3s until the first step is clear...Anyway, if you don't like anything in the review feel free to change it or make your own review, after all that's the spirit of the game, right?!Let me start by saying, The point of the Lego game series is to be able to create your own rules. That being said, this game starts with basically only one rule, roll the die and move. I had to play this game with my children about 10 times before we had developed a set of rules. They quickly gave up on this game and now just use it as another Lego set (they enjoy it as a non-game).If you want to buy a Lego game get Creationary or Minitorus, both these games are very well done. The instructions for this game are too complicated and confusing. There were too many different options for how to procced in the game, too many different variables to consider. My son had fun putting it together, but I couldn't understand the instructions well enough to play with him. After reading the reviews and the fact that it waon an award, we bought the game. It was fun building it, but so complicated when playing the game. Three people tried to interpret the instructions and we agreed on a probable way of playing.Nobody wanted to play it again.OkWe enjoyed this game. It requires some planning and an understanding of the rules so probably has to be played by over 7 year olds at least - my seven year old managed it. If you are into Egyptians etc as well its fun.Good game. Enjoyed building this game. Simple but me and husband played in the evening. Only thing is need more people as would take longer to play.bought as a Xmas present for a nephew my sister says he plays with it all the time and has had good use out of it
